Big teníamos un enorme respeto y admiración por él. Todo el que le ha conocido le ha querido. Pat acababa de completar una gira junto a la banda en la que actuaba como baterista de apoyo en algunas canciones, ya que las complicaciones de su enfermedad le impedían seguir tocando con la frecuencia habitual. El baterista Matt Starr hacía las veces de batería principal, mientras Pat tocaba algunos instrumentos de percusión y se sentaba tras el kit en alguna de las canciones de la banda.
